The Return of Acoustic Sundays

Without acoustic blues music you would have no basis for any form of current music. No Elvis, Bob Dylan, The Rolling Stones, The Beatles, Jay-Z, Lil’ Wayne or any other form of music.

Twin Cities Blues is proud to return the the root of all music by celebrating the wonders of Acoustic Blues and the artists that made current music possible.

No matter what your taste in blues music, be it blues rock, Zydeco, Chicago, Texas, British, you are sure to find comfort in listening to the start of it all… acoustic blues.

My journey through discovering blues music started with the blues rock styles of Stevie Ray Vaughan, Albert King and more but the more that I dug deeper into blues music’s rich history the more I am starting to enjoy the root of all music, Acoustic Blues.

Here are some great videos to kick of the return of Acoustic Sundays at Twin Cities Blues:

Rev. Gary Davis – Slow Drag

Mississippi John Hurt – You Got To Walk That Lonesome Valley

R.L. Burnside – Poor Black Mattie

Big Bill Broonzy – Baby Please Don’t Go

Curtis Blake and Greasy Gravy

Found a great video of a under recognized Minnesota blues band that features none other than harmonica master Curtis Blake with his band Greasy Gravy. Definitely worth checking out. Good to see these guys gigging around town again.

The band features Jerry Maynard on Guitar, Greg Schuck on Drums, John Heck on Bass and Harmonica Curtis Blake.

Sorry for the lack of updates to TwinCitiesBlues.com and to the Gig Calendar but day job duties have kept me busy and not really wanting to sit in front of a computer after spending 8 to 10 hours a day working on computers fighting viruses, spyware and malware.
